Draft Comprehensive Plan

We’re excited to share the draft version of the Fairburn Comprehensive Plan. This plan outlines ideas and strategies to balance growth, improve connectivity and accessibility, and enhance quality of life. Because your voice is essential, we invite you to review the draft and let us know what you think. Your feedback will help us refine the plan and ensure it reflects the priorities, values, and needs of the people who live, work, and visit here.

This plan is comprehensive; it provides an overview of where Fairburn is today, the path to developing the plan, and the vision that will guide the community's growth for the years to come.

To make the plan easier to digest and to help you navigate the components that are most important to you, we have broken it out into sections:

  1. Executive Summary. This chapter briefly describes the drivers of the plan: addressing the great work the City has done over the last few years, the need to create a cohesive vision, and community involvement.

  2. Planning Context. This chapter introduces the plan, the process, and its purpose.

  3. About Fairburn. This chapter provides a snapshot of the existing conditions that have guided the plan.

  4. Community Engagement. This chapter provides an inside look at how City staff, stakeholders, and the consultant team worked with the community to determine the plan's vision and priorities and summarizes the key takeaways from the input gathered.

  5. Plan Foundations. This chapter establishes the topics most important to Fairburn residents and stakeholders and the three overarching goals of the plan.

  6. Plan Recommendations. These seven chapters, separated by plan element, provides the strategies and key recommendations that need to be implemented to satisfy the community's vision and goals.

  7. Implementation. This chapter outlines the City's plan of action when it comes to making this comprehensive plan a reality. This is done through a Community Work Program (CWP) that describes the tasks at hand, who is responsible for ensuring their success, the proposed timeline, and the estimated cost or resources needed to accomplish it. This chapter also provides a list of long-term actions that should be considered beyond the five-year horizon of the CWP.
